I am from Florida and plan to relocate very soon. We want to be near the mountains, but yet still near town. Can anybody give me any suggestions on where I should set my sights. Thank You Noreen

We are in a similar situation...coming from Florida and looking to move to South Carolina. We have been up several times to visit and have fallen in love with the area. There are so many options too! Travelers Rest is a great area that we liked very much. But there were many others also! Start by researching the towns in the area such as Greenville, Taylors, Travelers Rest, Clemson, Central, Easley, Pickens etc. Then go to visit and decide what is good for you! Be sure to visit downtown Greenville! Good luck to you!

Seems many Floridians are moving up to the Hendersonville (NC) area, near Asheville. Historic downtown, festivals, golf, great scenery, and less than 1/2 hour to Asheville.

NO mountains on the East side of state, however, North Carolina Mountains are nice-Hendersonville/Asheville/Cashiers area. If you want cheaper Taxes, move to East TN, no state income tax and personal property tax is much cheaper. They have 9.8% sales tax but beginning next year Myrtle Beach sales tax will be 8% and we have very high property taxes and state income tax.
