We were kind of disapointed in the Peninsuula Grill. The food was OK, but the tables were placed so close that we could hear every whisper from adjacet groups--and one guy was loud, which made our dinner annoying.

Just got back from Charleston yesterday...had dinner at a restaurant called Sienna on Daniel Island (about a 20 minute drive).

We indulge, so we arranged for a car to take us roundtrip. Our meal was by far one of my top ten. Check the website www.siennadining.com. We chose the ultimate tasting menu and were blown away. This restaurant was well worth the price of the meal and the trip. The service was above and beyond as well. We actually wished we had saved this meal for our last night, everywhere else we went for the remainder of our trip could not even compare.

i concur, we love sienna. i never mention it, seems most visitors want downtown dining. i also don%26#39;t mention shem creek or IOP areas, maybe we should more often. good tip.

A third on Sienna.IWe have been to Italy 3 times and thought Sienna compared very favorably with good restaurants there.

I would also recommend trying Circa 1886 which is located behind the Wentworth Mansion downtown. Excellent food and during the month of January they have a 4 for $44. Four courses for 44$, a great value!

Coast Bar %26amp; Grille has great seafood and great service in a laid back atmosphere. They have fresh local seafood and a wood fired brick oven that turns out some of the best meals I%26#39;ve had!

It%26#39;s not the easiest place to find, it%26#39;s in an alley behind 39 Rue De Jean, on John Street, off of King St. a few blocks north of Marion Square. Also, they make the best Mojitos in town, and they know it!

FIG is another great place that is often overlooked.

On James Island, The Onion Seed has some very good food, service and prices. A new tapas place on James Island is J Paulz.

Here%26#39;s a good place to see a list that offers several pics, good descriptions and some menus and wine lists:
