I am thinking of going to Hilton Head for Christmas and I would like to know what the weather is like at that time of year. Will I need to wear a winter coat. In addition, are there very many things to do during the Christmas holidays or are there a lot of places closed.
Weather at ChristmasWe stayed on HHI over Christmas and New Year 2001-2002. As far as I remember, nothing was closed except perhaps public pools, but I don%26#39;t know that because I didn%26#39;t intend to swim. Christmas holidays are ';in season';, reflected e.g. by higher rental rates. There are quite some tourists.
We had mostly wonderful weather, but chilly, actually below freezing in the morning, warming considerably during the day. Some real stormy days when you better stayed in a lee place where it was perfect for sun bathing. But we also had very warm days that felt more like September, everybody was barefoot and the beaches were crowded.
An advice for accomodation: HHI has a beautiful vegetation with lots of huge trees. They are wonderful to look at, but it is not nice to stay in a home under such a canopy in winter. You have to turn on the light all day long. As you are from a country with cold and dark winters, you might want a sunny and bright place instead.

Weather at Christmasweather can be iffy starting in late November thru March. Most days you can expect a high in the mid sixties and lows in the forties. It is possible that you may be in a frost, but for the last five years, there have been only afew frost days each year.
last winter there was only one and it was 29K, one evening in Feb.
We are in the bible belt, so you should exoect everybody on the island celebrating at home. Shops, Restaurants, and Grocery will be closed pn Christmas day. You can go to a movie or eat at one of the buffets availabe at our hotel dining rooms.
Many of our restaurants will be serving a special menu on xmas eve, otherwise every thing will be going.
Our Arts Cener Theatre will have a show called Irving Berlins Christmas playing. You should also visit Dove Street in South Forest Beach for a magnificant xmas light display.

As an interesting side note, Christmas is the only day that golf is free on Hilton Head, if you don%26#39;t mind carrying your clubs.
The pro shops are closed, but you can go out on your own.
