Charlotte to Myrtle Beach Slowly

Two senior couples flying into Charlotte from Calgary, Canada. Booked into MB Saturday, arrive Charlotte Thur. evening. Thinking about staying in Charlotte Thursday, then driving to MB. Is there a neat spot to spend a day on the way? What is Southern Pines area like? Could we get a cheap golf game in on the way? Need a stop on Friday and are looking for a unique area to stop.

Any suggestions?

Charlotte to Myrtle Beach Slowly

Most of the area from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach ( regardless of route) is rural farm land. There%26#39;s really no place to stop over except a few seedy motels. There%26#39;s nothing to see. I suggest you stop a while at places like the McLeod Farm in McBee , SC - look around in their shop for a while, and keep going until you get to MB.

The only other alternative is go down to Columbia, SC and see some of the museums, the zoo, etc... and then on over. Again, this is not on the route to the beach but not a bad diversion. Southern Pines is not on the way to MB but there%26#39;s plenty of golf - don%26#39;t know how ';cheap'; it is, though!

I don;t know anyone who stops on the way to the beach from Charlotte - it%26#39;s just a four hour drive.

Best wishes and have a great trip.
