Info on Taylors?

Just wanted to know anyone%26#39;s thoughts on the Taylors area. I%26#39;m particularly interested in knowing if the neighborhoods around the Pebble Creek Country Club are some of the more desirable subdivisions for a home purchase. Any thoughts on good or bad areas of Taylors? Is Taylors an area where homes are appreciating at a decent level? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Info on Taylors?

Taylors used to be a little post office with some industry nearby, but the name has come to refer to a pretty large and diverse unincorporated area between Greenville and Greer. Basically, everything in zip code 29687 is now called Taylors, but that is a very large area - going most of the way to North Carolina within Greenville County. It%26#39;s hard to make any generalizations about it - it has some nice neighborhoods and some declining neighborhoods; some good schools and some mediocre schools.

Pebble Creek is also a pretty diverse area. The actual Pebble Creek subdivision is slightly above average for Greenville. A search turned up houses for sale from $130k to $230k. However, there are other subdivisions in that area (Cypress Point, Berkshire Park) that are also on the Pebble Creek golf course and more upscale. I imagine that houses near Pebble Creek are appreciating at a reasonable level for Greenville, although Greenville has not had a real estate boom like the Northeast, California, Florida, etc.

Not sure if you are interested in schools, but just in case - my kids went to Brushy Creek Elementary, Northwood Middle and Eastside High, which are all in Taylors, and all are among the best schools in Greenville. I felt like they received a good public education there, but the schools for Pebble Creek are rated somewhat lower.

For Taylors in general, go to realtor.com, search on zip code 29687. For Pebble Creek, go to coldwellbankercaine.com or cdanjoyner.com and search by the neighborhood.

Thanks for the info RC. Very helfpul. I appreciate your post. Happy Holidays!

I currently live in the Pebble Creek area and have lived in the Taylors area for most of my 47 years. As the poster above indicated, when people say ';Taylors';, it can cover a pretty large area but it is primarily the area between Greenville and Greer as you travel down US-29 or Wade Hampton Boulevard. The Pebble Creek area is very pretty and has several different home styles and price ranges. From my perspective the main advantages to the Pebble Creek/Taylors area are: 1)quality of life, very little bumper to bumper traffic, 2)surroundings -plenty of trees, mountain views, 3) proximity to downtown %26lt;5 miles. My kids go to Paris Elementary and we have been very pleased with the quality of teachers and admin there. Hope this helps.

I lived in the Taylors zip for one year right off of Wade Hampton in a decent neighborhood. I was just through there and found the neighborhood to be aging well; however, the high school looks in worse repair that when I lived there. I didn%26#39;t have any children there, so I don%26#39;t know the educational quality of the school, but if you have a child in elementary school the highschool could change by the time you get there depending on the principal.

That is one issue about Greenville County, one large school district with many schools. We lived there when we believe they had a very poor superintendent and many of the High Schools are in very poor condition, they are not up to the same standards as Spartanburg County Schools are. But we were just in Greenville for Christmas and could not believe how much the area has grown in the 2 years we have been gone from there. WOW! Greenville has a great downtown area, truly one of the best around.

I know that Bottany Woods is one of the oldest, most beautiful, and well established neighborhoods in Taylors. I would recommend checking into that area for a place to live. There are plenty of shopping and dining options in the vacinity, and as others have mentioned, depending on exactly where you live, Downtown is not a long drive away. I have heard reports that Taylors is rather quiet during the day, being a bedroom community for Greenville, but I wouldn%26#39;t say it is ';hopping'; at night either, just more noise related to families enjoying time together at the end of a busy day.

Thanks to everyone who has provided input in response to my post. I%26#39;m grateful for your insight. Wishing you all a safe and happy new year! Thanks again.
