Myrtle Beach at Christmas

I am taking my family to Myrtle Beach for a week after Christmas. I know...too cold to swim, so I need to know what else there is to do. We thought we would just check it out for a possible return trip next summer since we%26#39;ll be in the area visiting relatives.

I thought I saw a hotel, condo or something that enclosed their lazy river in the winter. Can%26#39;t find it now. Does anyone know which one I mean?

Myrtle Beach at Christmas

There is still alot to do that time of year....even tho the ocean temp is a bit to chilly to swim, the beach is great that time of year for a walk! And, with not alot of folks walking along the beach at that time, you can really find some nice sharks teeth and shells!

Of course for things to do you have shopping...Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing (both of these have reduced hours compared to summer, but still open til approx 6pm), Tanger Outlets, 3 malls....a number of shows, all still doing the Christmas programs, Ripleys aquarium, Alligator Adventure, Brookgreen Gardens...just to name a few things. If you will be staying thru the new year, you%26#39;ll see a number of ';personal'; firework displays along the beach.

There are a number of hotels with enclosed pool and lazy river areas....I know Dunes Village (which just recently opened) has a pretty decent indoor pool area...but there are a number out there. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll have some of the other regulars on this board give you additional places that you can check out.

Have a wonderful time! And you wont have to deal with the crowds!

Myrtle Beach at Christmas

We go to Myrtle Beach every year for the week after Christmas. It is still alive even in the dead of winter. Rates are great because there are so many new places to stay that older established ones really drop rates to attract business. We stay at Forest Dunes with a great indoor lazy river for the kids and large hot tub for the adults. This year a three bedroom ocean view condo is $81.50 a night! Last year we paid $98. The one bedroom units are just $43.50! Hope you enjoy your week.
