thinking about making the big move south...

My wife and I are thinking about making the big move south. We are just tired of mass and all the nonsense up here.

We are both in our 40%26#39;s and have two young children... but I am interested in anyone%26#39;s personal experiences with Daniel Island. While I would love to live in the city, my wife would prefer to be more suburban, and I get the impression that Daniel Island may give us the suburban location with good schools... golf etc... but still have fairly good access to Charleston.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Daniel Island is a very nice place. It is very expensive. And the mosquitos are the worst because you are surrounded by water and in very low laying areas. There are two ';sides'; to the island. Daniel Island Park has very expensive homes, and if you buy in there then you automatically get access to the Daniel Island Club (the very exclusive country club). (At least when I worked for the Daniel Island CLub a few years ago, that is how it was.ask a real estate agent now....see DanielIsland.com). Then there is the other part of the island, where it is much like a suburb. Daniel Island is a place for yuppies and families where one of the parents stays home with their beautiful highly intelligent children, driven around in nice cars or SUVs.. Anyone can join the Daniel Island Club (the country club) but it is very expensive; but it is very nice and the service is excellent. Be aware, you will smell the paper mill there on more days than not because it is very nearby.
