Calling all lodging and fishing experts

I would like some advise on what realitor company to use. We are first timers and want to rent a beachfront house or condo for two. We want to come fishing and use the piers. NO BOATS. I get sick. What is the best pier and what part of the beach is best to stay on. Is it ok to swim next to the piers. What the best time to catch flounder?

Help

thanks patty

Here are two realtor sites in NMB.

northmyrtlebeachtravel.com/book/query.html

http://www.century21thomas.com/index.htm

Three suggestions.

Sea Cabins. 6000 Ocean Blvd in Cherry Grove. Building comes with it%26#39;s own private fishing pier. Pass to the pier included with rental. or

Prince Resort at 3500 Ocean Blvd in Cherry Grove. Brand new building right in front of Cherry Grove Pier. Pier is a public pay pier. Don%26#39;t know if renters in the resort get pass or what. Driftwood Restuarant located at the pier.

Rent something within a block or two of 3500 Ocean Blvd. and walk to the pier.

Also. Few blocks inland is marsh area. Fills up at high tide. More of a salt water lake. Several fishing spots around there. Great for smaller fishing tackle from home.

P.S.....NMB is North Myrtle Beach. Seperate city maybe ten miles north of Myrtle Beach. Less crowded. Quiet. Still an easy 20-30 minute drive to most attractions.

NMB is made up of four beach sections. Windy Hill, Cresent, Ocean Drive and Cherry Grove. Cherry Grove is at the north end of NMB. Taller buildings are popping up every year in Cherry Grove but still not as packed as the other three sections.

The Cherry Grove pier is closed and may go the way of other dinosaurs? They say ir will open back up in April. Before you know it the Grand Strand will be a crowded place to stay, with places to eat and an ocean.

http://www.pieratgardencity.com About 5 miles south of Myrtle Beach. Or maybe Johnny Mercer%26#39;s Pier in Wrightville Beach, NC or the Bogue Inler Pier near Cape Carteret, NC or the pier in Southport, NC. I saw where a guy caught several sheepshead there today with fidder crab. Tons of places to say at good prices this time of year.

Saw on restuarant review site that the Driftwood was opened again. Wondered during the construction how they were going to have an old ragged old pier attached to a brand new highrise.

There is still Apache Pier ( a number of anglers there, just about year round!) and Springmaid Pier..Apache more to the north end of MB (in the Arcadia Section) and Springmaid located just about as far south as you can go along the beach and still be in MB. Not many option for a beachhouse near Springmaid, but there are a few condo options there....up near Apache you may want to check out Maison%26#39;s del sur (I think that%26#39;s correct) or ';A place at the Beach'; good place to look for condos in that area would be on www.vrbo.com

I think between the two piers Apache would be the better fishing pier, but Springmaid Pier is a much nicer beach area....guess you just cant have both..... :) I would say flounder would be similar to a number of our local fishes....anywhere from April thru November.

As for swimming near the piers....its really not advised. You have a number of guys with lines near the pier, and the way the waves break against the pilings, its really not a good idea. You will see a number of surfers near the pier at Springmaid....its really a great surfing area too!
