Which area, Which hotel?

Hello

I am thinking of travelling to the US again next year, poss not until the beginning of Sept. Can anyone advise me of the best area of Myrtle beach to stay in for a few nights, and any nice hotels? Our base will be North Carolina, and I understand this will be a bit of a treck down to the south? (Rocky Mount base) We visited Atlantic Beach May 2006, and even though the weather was naff, managed to have a nice time. Not a lot to do there though if the sun isnt shining ! It was a bit of a ghost town.

Also what will the weather be like in Sept? Will the entertainment areas still be open in Sept?

Thanks

Karen

IMO best section to stay at is the section right after the beachfront residential area known as the Golden Mile. This is the Northern part of Myrtle Beach. Some upscale newer hotels in this area are Southwind.Sea Island and Marriot(Grande Dunes).

Very easy to get to all the major highways and is in the middle of the major attractions like Broadway At The Beach(6 miles) and Barefoot Landing(9 miles away).

YES...September is a GREAT time to stay at Myrtle Beach....The weather should be warmer at the beginning of Sept...maybe chilly at night...but doubtful...

As far as entertainment...that time of the year should still have much to offer.

I suggest the Sands resorts...I have stayed there on several occasions, and it is wonderful. www.sandsresorts.com
