golf package for husband and father...

I would like to get my husband and dad a golf package/getaway for christmas. My mom and I would tag along. We do not play golf, they are serious golfers. What courses are truly worth it? Where should we stay? Not sure when we would be going...april/may? Any good packages offered by the hotels? we will be driving from jersey!

Why not plan to come during Heritage Week. It is April 9th to the 15th in 2007. See some of the best Pro Golfers play the Famed Harbor Town course. The event occurs the week after the ';Masters'; and many of the golfers play here after that event.

Many of the island courses will have demos by the pro%26#39;s and it is a real treat for the serious golfer.

I would also suggest that you rent a condo. The event takes place in SeaPines, but there are other places you might want to look at. It doesn%26#39;t take long for you to drive to the venue from any place on the island.

Check my Sticky ';Plantations'; to find out more about our resorts.

You can rent privately from websites like VRBO.com or Cyberrentals.com

If you rent through a commerical company, most have golf packages available. Look up Vacationcompany.com or islandgetaway.com for two recommended rental companies.

PS: if you want to forego the tournament then rent some other week, as Heritage week is our busiest of the year. Also rent after the tournament if your golfers want to attack Harbourtown themselves.

sorry, I forgot to include the Heritage Website. You can buy your tickets there so that you can give the gift at christmas.

The website URL is www.verizonheritage.com

Palmetto Dunes has one which includes the three PD courses - one quite nice the RTJ Course, one OK and the last only so-so.

This past summer we did the multiple play package that included the two Palmetto Hall courses, Oyster Reef, Port Royal and Shipyard. The two Palmetto Hall courses ase quite good (much better than the non RTJ corses at Palmetto Dunes). Oyster Reef is excellent. Port Royal quite nice. This package represents an excellent collection of courses and is considerably cheaper than the PD package. Would hightly recommend a recon drive the night before playing as some of these courses not too easy to find -- but well worth the effort.

Sea Pines has Harbour Towne - a great experience but often a slow round as tourists want to play the whole course and shouldn%26#39;t be at the back tees. Played it last summer with three other single digit handicaps and only one of us had it south of 85!
