Would it be too late to go crabbing (pier/inlet) thanksgiving weekend?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanksgiving weekend crabbing?

Interesting...where abouts (and how) would one go to gather oysters? Would it be safe for kids though?

Not much to it --- just wear old shoes or boats, rubber gloves, take a bucket for your haul and head to a marshy area...there are a number of beds that you can harvest from down around Murrells Inlet and the Pawleys Island area....I do think you have to have some type of license :

';A South Carolina Marine Recreational Fisheries Stamp (Adobe PDF) is required for recreational harvesting. There is a harvesting limit of two bushels of oysters or one-half bushel of clams, or both, per person, per day from authorized harvesting areas. Shellfish culture permits cannot be harvested without being in possession of written permission from the permit holder. ';

But it is alot of fun, and the fresh oysters are wonderful! I think they also do a program on Oysters and Crabbing at Huntington Beach State Park (southcarolinaparks.com/park-finder/…1020.aspx)

Have fun!

:)

Thank you so much for the info!
