YIKES, help locals!

Ok locals - reassure me! LOL. I%26#39;m booked st Sea Island Christmas week and I see there%26#39;s a big high school basketball tournament in town that week. We were looking for a quiet week of relaxation. What%26#39;s it like there with a city full of teens at Christmas? Did we make a mistake?

The grand strand consist of close to 60 miles of beach and over 69,000 lodging choices. In my opinion a baketball tournament with less than 20 teams will hardly be noticed unless they somehow all chose to stay at the Sea Island. Relax and enjoy your trip!

We traveled several years with a youth soccer team to tournaments. Pretty much year round from the time they were10 years old till they were eighteen years. With all the age groups and boy and girl teams, you had more teams per tournament. More players per team. I could probably count on my fingers the trips we had more than one team in a single motel/hotel.

There are enough accomodations and restuarants in MB you will never notice an extra thousand or so players and families.

High school age kids aren%26#39;t angels but they are much better behaved than ten to twelve year olds running up and down the halls slamming doors and kicking balls through the lobby.

Teams really don%26#39;t have that much time between games at a tournament anyway. If they%26#39;re not running out to eat they%26#39;re at the arena watching the other games. With all the attractions around MB I doubt if they will be spending much of their free time at the motels.

Long story short. You shouldn%26#39;t have any trouble. Relax and enjoy your trip.

don%26#39;t worry about the BB Tournament, MB is a very large place I doubt you run into any issues with that. Weather will play a part in how much you see anyone anyway. If its cooler they won%26#39;t be out much. Christmas will be way more relaxing then summer, to be sure.

The annual Beach Ball Classic is a great tourney...but dont worry...the beaches and attractions wont be overrun by these groups...these guys (and girls) are SERIOUS about b-ball! We had some greats play in this tournery as HS%26#39;ers...pretty impressive tournery ,if you get a chance you should try to catch a game or two!

The tournery is at the convention center...so the Sheraton there is pretty much booked out with the teams....far enough away from the Sea Island...
