Best Family -oriented Oceanfront Suite????

Can anyone recommend me a nice family oriented oceanfront suite.? with a nice and big indoor pool(not a bath tub pool) and nice clean rooms .

Best Family -oriented Oceanfront Suite????

There are hundreds of properties in MB with nice indoor pools...

Do you know what area would suit you best?

Best Family -oriented Oceanfront Suite????

What time of year and what attractions are you interested in? From Italy I%26#39;m just guessing you%26#39;ll be flying in. Airport is at south end of Grand Strand so might be in your best interest to look in that area.

Here are two sights for North Myrtle Beach just in case you are driving from somewhere in US. NMB is ten miles north of City of Myrtle Beach. Drive times to attractions very similar to drive times from other beach sections.

I agree that www.vrbo is a great site to search for places to stay....you may also take a look at Sea Island Resort...brand new this past year...really nice. A few other suggestions would be Monteray Bay Suites (this one includes a decent breakfast buffet and and evening dessert reception), Long Bay Resort ...or even Grande Shores. All this places are located in one of my fav areas along the beach...what we call ';the avenues';...very family oriented, great beach, and close to a number of great places to eat and shop. This area is almost inbetween Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing.

Good luck in your search!

:)

Thank you all for your help.! I have decided on staying in MB and found a 2BR last minute at Compass Cove. After reading many reviews, I called a few places but many didn%26#39;t have a 2 BR with a full kitchen but this hotel seemed to have a nice full equipped kitchen. Hope I won%26#39;t be disappointed with them.

Hi, We stayed at the Roxanne Towers June 2005 and loved it. We had a 14 month old at the time so family friendly and cleanliness was a huge issue for us. Look them up on this site and you can read my post and others also.

Anyway, they are about 6-7 blocks from the Pavillion downtown area which was nice because with a small one we just walked down to the arcades so she could ride the little rides and we usually ate somewhere down there and got ice cream, etc...

The hotel hadn%26#39;t been open for a year yet when we stayed so everything was still really new. It was very, very clean and the people were friendly. We got a 1 bedroom with a living area and a small kitchen that was oceanfront. The hotel is right on the beach. They have an outdoor pool, a kiddie pool, and a small lazy river. The indoor pool isn%26#39;t technically indoors but there is a roof over it and is only open on one side. You bascially walk through it before you get to the other pools and then you keep going out to the beach.

We really liked it there and plan to stay again when we go back. It didn%26#39;t have as many frills as some of the bigger hotels that were further down but it was perfect for our family and close to all the action.

Good luck!

Brandy, the Pavillion is gone and the next closest place to find children%26#39;s rides is Family Kingdom further south down Ocean Blvd. Not sure exactly what will happen to all the shops located next to the pavillion, right now its mainly beach wear shops, you still have Ripleys Museum and Haunted House, but thats about it. I am not a fan of south Ocean Blvd around the Pavillion area. Hotels are older, although there is some high rise condo construction going on, there is construction up and down Ocean Blvd, might be something to ask about, in case you are late sleepers, that might not happen if you are staying next to a high rise condo project.

Hey, all.

I am a vacationer who takes my wife and 2 daughters (ages 12 and 13, now) to MB every year for our Summer vacation.

The past 9 years have had us staying at Sea Crest, between 8th and 9th Ave South.

However, we can no longer abide the downhill slide of this ';resort,'; about which I posted elsewhere on this forum.

Unfortunately, though, with our decision to never again stay there, we ';lose'; all of our knowledge of the local area, and------ even more importantly------ the ';hot spots'; on the beach for hunting sharks-teeth and other fossils, such as Wither%26#39;s Swash!

(This is a huge part of our annual stay, and we are all very much ';into'; this part of our vacation.)

We have no real preference as to where we stay, so long as it includes good ';hunting'; within reasonable walking distance of our accommodations. MB South, old pavilion area (noise?), MB North, NMB, etc.

One ';local'; this past August recommended that the area around 16th Ave North offered some good fossil-hunting, there around the pier....... (?)

Can anyone (locals, or otherwise) offer suggestions that will encompass my need for a real ';family-oriented'; resort/hotel----- having cleanliness and low-noise----- and the aforementioned addiction to spending hours on the beach hunched-over looking for fossils?

Many thanks in advance!

Flex...

I LOVE to gather sharks teeth! One of my favorite hobies...and I have gotten to the point that when I%26#39;m just out walking, I still look --- and if I find something I usually look for someone to pass it off to. I really think the area near Southwind Villas, Forest Dunes and Sea Island Inn...I would even say this area is better than the south end around the piers....something about the way the shoreline is in this area...a number of tidal pool areas that seem to attract teeth..and some really cool shells!

Sea Island just opened this past season...sits right on the beach, nice pool area..Southwind is the sister property...really nice..pool area somewhat limited. Forest Dunes is the oldest out of the 3...sits across the street from the beach, but is probably the best value for the $$. Oh, almost forgot about Dunes Village, just opened this fall, the pool complex looks really neat. All of these do have units posted on www.vrbo.com and all but Forest Dunes have websites.

Hope this helps...its never a good feeling to be ';uprooted';!

:)

MBC,

Thanks for the response!

I appreciate it, and will check into the online reviews those establisments have.

(I hope others will also feel free to respond with their thoughts on accommodations, as well........)

Regarding the sharks tooth hunting, were we to end-up in a location that did not offer hunting similar to what we had around Wither%26#39;s Swash, it would be very disappointing. In fact, my vacation would probably pretty much be ruined, as that is what I spend the majority of my time doing!

We usually end up finding a few teeth in the 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inch range each year, and have gotten to the point that we hardly even bother to bend down to pick up the small ones.

Over the years, we have been given ';suggestions'; by folks on the beach about good places to hunt.

We have tried a couple of the parks, but were very disappointed.

Went to Huntington Beach State Park last year, after being told by a ';local'; that there was awesome hunting if we%26#39;d walk to the jetty%26#39;s.

(LONG walk!)

We were totally unimpressed, but did find out later that we might have like it better had we gone at low-tide.

(Hunting would have to be pretty awesome just to make up for the walk down to the jetty%26#39;s and back, though!)

Regarding the hunting area you mention between Monterey Bay and Southwind Villas:

Are there many ';shelly'; areas on the beach, there, or is it mostly flat sand?

Thanks again!
