March 2007 in Charleston?

Hello, my wife and I had our first visit a few years ago and really like Charleston. We stayed at the Renaissance and enjoyed walking everywhere, taking in the historical areas and houses. I%26#39;m now thinking of giving her (and me) a Christmas gift certificate for a few nights in the March time frame. As of now I%26#39;m leaning towards the Governor%26#39;s House Inn, Two Meeting Street or possibly (but probably not) the Doubletree in a two-room suite. I think this time an Inn is what we%26#39;d prefer, assuming I can get a reservation.

I%26#39;d appreciate your insights as to whether that time of the year is worthwhile based on the weather and things to do. Do restaurants, Market, horse-drawn carriages, and other attractions in the downtown area close down for the winter?

Also, of the three places on my list to stay, which would be your pick, and why? Or would you suggest another alternative?

Thanks in advance for any advice and information.

March 2007 in Charleston?

Everything is open in March~ Charleston is beautiful that time of the year.

Of the 3 places that you mentioned to stay, my personal pick would be the Governors House Inn. I think that it is the most beautiful place to stay in all of Charleston. The staff is wonderful, the location is right in the middle of Downtown, they have free parking, the rates include a full breakfast and afternoon southern tea, and all of the rooms are lovely!

All the activities you mentioned run year round. If you wait until March 15, ';Garden Month'; begins and there will be many home and garden tours going on, plus you have a better chance of good weather and lots of blooming flowers!
