some other hotels

We are thinking about Dayton House but what about some other hotels.....looking at Landmark, Best Western Grand strand Inn %26amp; Suites, Boardwalk Beach resort, Forest Dunes Oceanfront, Sandy Beach Resort. does anyone have an opinion on these places? trying to narrow my search down. We are planning on vacationing there during springbreak. this is our first trip to Myrtle beach. I have had many friends vacation in MB. i would love to hear pros and cons. what is barefoot landing like? is there any areas in MB oceanfront that we should avoid staying? We have a teenager and 9 year old. want to stay somewhere family friendly. thanks!

Another option to consider is a condo. Rates are generally less expensive, equipped kitchens, and more room for your family. Best condo options are either in North Myrtle Beach or south of Myrtle in Surfside or Garden City. For North Myrtle, check out Elliott Realty, for Surfside/Garden City, check Dunes Realty or Garden City Realty.

Forest Dunes

Pro%26#39;s- The 3 bedrooms are very roomy and offer floor to ceiling windows in the living room with as good a view as you will find in Myrtle.

Great location and an easy to get in and out of parking garage.

Cons- Some people dont like the idea of the road between the hotel and beach, but to most its no bother.

Some C-rated rooms are not kept up by their private owners and get bad reviews.

Indoor pool tiny

We love Sandy Beach Resort its under some construction now but it should be done by the time you come. It didnt effect our trip in August at all . Nice staff, clean rooms and great location across from family kingdom.

I have to side with TonyMK on this one....I really like that area of the beach...nice wide open beaches, very ';family friendly';...you have a number of options in that area...Forest Dunes, SouthWind Villas, Dunes Village, and Sea Island Inn.....for some of the best rates, I%26#39;d look into www.vrbo.com. This is a site where individual owners rent out their units, and some of the rates are quite a bit better than say a traditional ';booking'; engine.

This area is known as the Avenues and actaully extends up to 82nd Ave N....so there are a number of hotels as you proceed north of this area....there is also a nice residential area in between, so makes those walks on the beach alot of fun!

You are almost inbetween Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing, and nearby a number of great places to eat and shop! Plus one of the best homemade ice cream shops around!

:)

I would avoid Landmark unless they%26#39;ve done some big-time refurbishing in the last couple of years. They have lots of pools, etc. but the rooms were shabby (at best).

yes...they have...I think all rooms have been refurbished at this point. The Landmark advertizes their indoor pool complex as the largest in town (or is it in the US?) %26amp; it certainly is extensive.

Hi

I would not recommend the Best Western as it is not that great. Not sure about the other places
