Best hotel with 2 young kids??

HELP!!! im sooo confused! We will be traveling end of august with a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old.. first timers.. want a NICE place, good location and SAFE. I was thinking Coral Beach but after reading reviews of the South end Im worried...

Best hotel with 2 young kids??

I%26#39;d suggest taking a look at vrbo.com and North Myrtle Beach. Things start to slow a little in late August but the Grand Strand is still packed. North Myrtle Beach (the city) has much better crime statistics than Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach is a great place but facts are facts and if I wanted to stay in Myrtle, I would.

Since you have little ones, I would think you are more interested in enjoying the beach and pool and not necessarily other forms of entertainment that being in MB itself provides. I agree with ';gone'; North MB, Cherry Grove section are very family oriented. There are nice resorts, nice condo%26#39;s/houses for rent. North MB will offer everything you could possibly want or need.

might try avista resort in north myrtle beach.

Thank you for your advice! I appreciate you taking the time. So is Coral beach out of the question? Is N. Myrtle near the amuzement parks? and any suggestions of where to stay in north??? THANKS AGAIN

This is my opinion like the other posters- we believe you would like North MB better, I would tell my friends not to stay at a South Ocean Blvd address. We have one amusement park called Family Kingdom, it is located on South OB. Pavillion is being torn down. Broadway at the Beach has a small childrens area with several smaller rides, I would suggest that area over Family Kingdom. There is construction going on everywhere in MB, you really can%26#39;t get away from that. South OB has alot of older mom/pop hotels, many of them closed waiting to be torn down and high rises built. Its not the prettiest section of grand strand. With small children, North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove area for your first trip would be a good choice. You can always drive around and check out other locations. You can drive down to south OB, look at Coral Beach, I suggest you, if you do drive down South, you check out the area 1 block off of Ocean Blvd (not at night) just to see what we are talking about.

wow... you guys are SOOO HELPFUL!! thanks!! So Avista seems nice... and Dunes? any others I should check out??

You might take a look at some of the resorts in the Avenues area, Monteray Bay Suites (includes a breakfast buffet and evening dessert reception in room rate) Grande Shores, Long Bay, Marriott Grande Dunes, Sea Island (know known as Island Vista --- opened last season), Forest Dunes, South Wind Villas or Dunes Village. Most of these complexes have nice pool areas for the kids and the beach, IMO, is one of the best in the area. Very well guarded too, which is important with little ones.

As for the crime in MB according to one of the above posters --- in the north end of MB a number of the locals still dont lock there doors --- crazy isnt it? Most of the crime happens more in the downtown area, or an area we know locally as Racepath, which is a pretty improverished area ridden with drugs and gangs. Common sense will keep you from going into those areas, just like I would%26#39;nt be in the south side of Chicago at 1am either.....

Coral Beach is a decent place....recently refurbished, alot of amenities. You should check out some of the comments from people who have stayed there off to the left of this forum. The south end isnt all boarded up....yes it is definately in a transition, but a number of those properties will be completed with their comstruction by the time season rolls around. It is the ';older'; part of MB....I wouldnt stay anywhere near the old Pavillon area, say from 15th Ave N to about 5th Ave S...that a pretty rough area hotel wise...

Good luck in you search!

:)

Thank you! What is IMO? You said its one of the best?

';IMO'; mean in my opinion...always like to clarify that! LOL But the beach around that area is really nice....and a great place to look for shells or sharks teeth!

:)

HAHAHHAHHAA THANKS.... new oviously to this... IMO.. thought it was some great resort.....
