Place to stay for family of 14

We usually rent a house at Outer Banks but want to try something different. We would like to have more things to do as some kids are teens. We could rent 2 condos. What is a good house rental agency, or a fun resort that isn%26#39;t too crowded. We want to go in June. Also, what about Litchfield beach or Ocean Isle. That seems to be popular in richmond virginia.

Only experience with Ocean Isle has been to visit friends who were in area same week we were. First visit we were impressed. Nothing but houses and low frame style condo buildings. No highrise buildings. Reminded me of NMB in the 60%26#39;s.

Last trip to OI it looked over developed. When we crossed the bridge over to island it looked like you could walk the length of the island on the roof tops. Still no large buildings but it looked like a quilt with all the multi colored roofs spread out in front of you.

Don%26#39;t get me wrong. It%26#39;s a nice place. Just depends on what you%26#39;re used to or looking for.

Not a fraction of the things to do as you would find a little farther south in MB and surrounding area. 45-60 minute drive to MB attractions.

Several areas to pick from around MB. Something for everybody no matter what you%26#39;re looking for.

North Myrtle Beach is seperate city 10 miles north of MB. The north end of MB around Kings Road has become very popular. Downtown MB is the favorite with the teens. Can get a bit congested. Then you have tthe areas south of MB. Surfside, Garden City, Murrell%26#39;s Inlet and Pawley%26#39;s Island.

Most of your house selections are to the south and north of MB. The Pawley%26#39;s Island and Murrell%26#39;s Inlet areas would probably be your most quiet and laid back location. 20-30 minute drive to attractions.

Most of your houses in NMB are in the Cherry Grove section. Not as quiet as PI and MI but still not as congested as MB. Still enough going on that kids aren%26#39;t bored. 20-30 minutes to main MB attractions.

Here are two sites for NMB.

Most people want oceanfront. If that%26#39;s not all that important you might look at the channel houses. Some of those come with pools and equiped with game rooms.

There are a few four and five bedroom condos in the area.

century21thomas has a lot of beach house choices.......vrbo.com would have several that would accomodate 14. Ocean Isle is nice but if you%26#39;re looking an Outter Banks change, you may need to come further south.

If you are wanting a change from OB, then North MB(Cherry Grove or Windy Hill) or MB would be preferable because it will be a total change. If you chose MB I would not stay directly ';downtown'; as it is very crowded and noisy, meaning the area closest to the old ';Pavilion';, it is being torn down but it is certainly a landmark if you are checking maps. If you are looking for middle ground, then Ocean Isle, Pawley%26#39;s, Litchfield are much quieter areas, but still close enough if you want to come to MB for the day you can. North Myrtle Beach is quieter than MB, Garden City is also an option south of MB. There are NO shortages of rental property in this area, even for 14 people.

I agree that www.vrbo.com is a great site when looking for larger properties....and since you are renting directly from the owners, the rate always seem to be a bit better.

Some of the larger condo/hotel resorts do have 3 and 4 bedroom condos (Dunes Village is brand new and has these)...there are a few beach houses in one of my fav areas of the beach (82nd Ave N to 31st Ave N). I like the beach in this area, plus I find it to be pretty centrally located to a number of our local attractions. Do keep in mind that June is the beginning of our heaviest season....so traffic will become a factor in getting from point A to point B. Rt 17 heading south into the Garden City/Surfside Beach area can be a nightmare at times --- and this is on Rt 17 Bypass or Business 17. I do like the Pawleys Isle/Litchfield area....really laidback and relaxed and if your plans are to beach bum it for the week, its a great area..with some wonderful places to eat too!

Another site for house rentals in the MB area is www.booerealty.com. I know they have had some negative comments on this forum, but I have personally used them to house relatives during a wedding here, and they were wonderful to work with.

Happy hunting!

:)

If you decide on North Myrtle Beach, Elliott Realty has fantastic selection of beach houses that would meet your needs. Web site was posted earlier at northmyrtlebeachtravel.com Cherry Grove is my preferred area.
