Questions for MB Concierge about Hotels

OK,

I must admit. I%26#39;ve really lost faith in TripAdvisor as a site.

You can literally find the nicest hotel on the planet only to find various reviews calling it the worst hotel on the planet.

Looking in MB for accomdations is prob. the worst experience you can have.

ALL the hotels have terrible reviews and some good. Hotels that are talked about my mbconcierge and others are then slammed in the reviews.. ';blood stained sheets';, ';brown stuff on the bed and floor';

IT';S totally dissapointing and you can spend hours and get nowhere.

So here are my questions. We%26#39;re coming to Golf in Feb.

We%26#39;re going to play some nice course.

Most likely,

Barefoot Love

Tidewater

and a more simple third.. maybe Long Bay unless someone has another suggestion.

WHERE SHOULD we stay.

3 Guys, want to stay somewhere NICE but affordable? Does it actually exist?

How about booking my tee times am I best to do it through a site like mbn.com or call the courses and book it directly.

We originally looked at a Caravelle Package but found it was actually cheaper to book the tee times through MBN and then book a room later.

But after reading for about 2 hours between reviews/forums/advice... I%26#39;m really stuck.

Thanks

If you are just looking for a room, friends of ours work at Dayton House in MB, N. Ocean Blvd. Locally owned, clean rooms. Its not the newest resort, they have rooms on ocean and across the street. I have no doubt its confusing to find lodging in MB, when you have the number of resorts we have. Marriott Grand Dunes is a very nice resort, but not the cheapest. Another option is condo rental.

There are a number of great places to stay here at the beach...and then, sad to say, there are a number of dumps too! But with that being said, I%26#39;d say you%26#39;d be more than safe with one of the following...

The Breakers Paradise Tower (be sure to specify Paradise Tower!)...they are centrally located just off 21st Ave N and Ocean Blvd, nearby are some of my fav places to grab a bite...Bummz Beah cafe, SoHo, Papa%26#39;s and River City...plus they do offer some great golf packages.

Sea Island and South Wind Villas...properties are less than 2 years old (Sea Island being the newer of the two...and is now called Island Vista -- legal issues with the name) sit right on the ocean in one of my favorite areas of the beach. Not for sure if they offer any type of golf packages, but they might. (Most places do)

Then of course there is the Mariott at Grande Dunes and the brand new Marina Inn at Grande Dunes...the Mariott is OF while the Marina Inn is located on the ICW right across from the Grande Dunes Course. One great thing about staying at either of these properties is that it allows you to play the Members Course at Grande Dunes (which is a private course). To book golf package for either of these you might want to try www.myrtlebeachtrips.com

I%26#39;m sure there are a number of others that would more than accomodate your needs. Alot of what is happening nowadays is that a number of units are privately owned whether it be a condo complex or a hotel....and some owners put more back into their unit than others. So I think that is why you see some of the negative feedback....and then again there are just some people that no matter how great it is, there is just no pleasing them.

Hope this helps ';unstick'; you!

:)

Most condos are individually owned thereby making it the responsibility of the owner to upgrade the rooms when needed and not the hotels obligation. With that said the newer hotels should not have reached the neglect stage. If your booking the golf yourself,Sea Island and Southwind are good bets to be clean and in good shape.
