Need a clean reasonably place to stay at Mrytle Beach

Hi, I am planning a trip to Mrytle Beach May 5-12/07

We would be interested in staying someplace near, within walking distance of Studebakers. Last year stayed too far away, at the Caribbean.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We need a room that would be suitable for 3 adults, one child, overlooking the ocean, as well as being an efficiency.

Thanks

Okay, Let%26#39;s start over with proper spelling!!!

I am planning a trip to Myrtle Beach May 5-12/07.

We are interested in obtaining a nice place close to Studebakers,

The resort we stayed at last year, ( The Caribbean ) was just too far away, and it is renovating still. Does anyone have any suggestions. Room suitable for 3 adults, one child, overlooking the ocean with an efficiency is ideal.

Thanks again,

Breakers or Camelot by the Sea, both close proximity to Studebakers. Since you mention Studebakers, I assume you want some night life, also check out Broadway at the Beach, Fat Harolds in N. MB, (which is all shagging but good times) or 2001 in N. MB. All places you can dance. If you are looking just for fun times, Crocodile Rocks at Broadway at the Beach.

Thanks for the feedback, Hart1

I was checking a place called Dayton House. What if anything have you got to say about this place?

There are certainly mixed reviews on most everything. It is very hard to chose here due to negatives and postives on same properties!

Thanks again for your help

Heather

Dayton House is very clean and well kept, as the few reviews I read indicated. We know owner, ee%26#39;s and they are ';anal'; about keeping the place spotless. It is an older hotel, its not some glitzy, gleeming concrete and glass high rise but for the money, it is a good choice. I am not sure about efficienies, that I can%26#39;t answer about Dayton House, but location is excellent. Although you will still have to drive to Studebakers, its a good walk and really even in MB, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT, anywhere on the grand strand, not such good idea to walk. The blocks off of Ocean Blvd, particuarly in the Pavillion area, both north and south, are not good places to walk at night. But that is any city, use common sense, if the area is not well lit, probably not good idea to walk in.

Can%26#39;t comment on Myrtle Beach, but North Myrtle and Surfside/Garden City (south of Myrtle) are fine for walking at night...even on the beach. There%26#39;s not much nightlife in those areas, but my personal experience leads me to believe that both areas are safe to walk at night.

gator, we were discussing the area around Studebakers. Further south into Surfside/Garden City and north in N. MB/Cherry Grove beach walking is probably safe enough. They wanted to know within walking distance of Studebakers. If you read or watch the MB news daily as I do, you will find out there are sections of MB that do not lend itself to walking at night. Now if you want to take the responsibility of telling someone it is safe to walk at night anywhere please do. We have day light purse snatching at WalMart and the grocery stores. Because vacationers carry alot of money, credit cards, resort areas become havens for people looking to relieve you of your personal property. Do not forget common sense when you travel. You may be on vacation but criminals never take vacations.

Like I said, I cannot comment on Myrtle Beach, but can comment on other areas of the Grand Strand. You mentioned it was not a good idea to walk at night anywhere on the Grand Strand....North Myrtle, Surfside, Garden City are part of the Grand Strand, and I feel comfortable walking at night in those parts of the Grand Strand. RELAX!!

Gator, no matter what I say you have a negative comment about it. I am glad you are comfortable walking, that is super. DO you know where others maybe staying, North MB is a large area, what if they stay in N. MB next to Atlantic Beach, would you feel comfortable telling them to walk at night.

Sunspotbaby,

You asked about the Dayton House and as luck would have it, we just stayed there this past weekend. We were lokking for a new place to stay this summer and wanted to check it out. So here%26#39;s what I saw...

The room we stayed in was in the building just south of the main office. It was a oceanfront eff. and had a great view. The room was very clean and the office manager (Ken) was very very helpful with all our questons and showed us a lot of options. It is not as some have all ready said, one of those exclusive places but who wants the huge crowd of people that comes with places like that.

They have a newer suites building with a lazy river and the grass lawn was awesome. We will be staying there in June so I%26#39;ll let you know how it goes.

Negative? Really? Certainly not my intention...just posting comments based on my personal experiences.
