Charleston, SC-What's the best time of year to visit?

I have heard the best time to visit Charleston, SC is between October and March/April.... is this true? and what is the average temperature in April?

I think the Fall is better -- Spring tends to be buggy -- and muggy ..

April it is usually in the 70%26#39;s maybe some 80%26#39;s -- also Spring and into Summer ( really year round if it rains alot -- but mainly Spring / Summer Thundershowers) BE AWARE of the Tide schedule and learn the flood prone areas -- where you are planning to stay -- also make sure you are aware of roads that flood .

I think that April and October are the best months. Both have more moderate temps and the humidity is not too bad then. In April LOTS of things will be blooming and the gardens are beautiful. If I was forced to choose, I would pick April for that reason. Usually April is mid to upper 70%26#39;s, altho some years it is only in the 60%26#39;s, but that is uncommon.

Look on weatherchannel.com for Charleston and you can find all kinds of info on average temps, rainfall, etc.

March can be cold. Brrrr. We%26#39;ve been some years where we had to break out the sweaters, hats, and gloves. April is a popular month. If you will be renting a home, you%26#39;ll be competing with families on spring/Easter break. If May is an option, and your renting, you might be able to get an owner to discount rates a little (I just reduced my May 2007 rates on my home). For some reason, people don%26#39;t pick May as a month to travel. I suspect because families vacation around their childrens%26#39; school breaks.

Locals say October is the best!

April, April, April! I just love my home city during the month of April. The gnats are usually gone and we still have some time before the 90%26#39;s arrive. The gardens alone are worth the visit. The azaleas are in full bloom at Magnolia Gardens and it is truly a sight to behold. Plan your trip now since many things will fill up in April. Good luck!

Late Oct. or early Nov.

Favorite: October into early November

Next favorite: late April into early May

Do you rent out your villa at Kiawah?

Thanks for asking.

We actually have two places on Kiawah. One (on Night Heron Pond, in the ';Parkside'; area) we rent out through The Kiawah Island Golf Resort%26#39;s villa and homes rental program. The other place we just enjoy using for ourselves. I may get back into renting directly to guests on my own. At the moment, I am too busy planning our daughter%26#39;s wedding, which will be on Kiawah later this year.

If anyone needs advice about locations and amenities of any sort of Kiawah rental, I am happy to try to help. We have been visiting Kiawah and watching the island develop for the past 30 years. We have been in lots of homes and villas over that time!

I have lived here for 10 years, for college and work. If you are going to visit, the best time, without a doubt is October- November or April- May. June is too crowded and July and August is the price we pay to live here.

Best things to do- (trust me, my family visits all the time)

Ghost tours in October

Spoleto in May

Taste of Charleston in October

Any show at Dockstreet Theatre

Walk around College of Charleston

Any plantation in spring

Walk the new bridge.

Any beach, Sullivan%26#39;s is the most peaceful.

Walk the Battery-

Visit the Citadel-

If you can find it, go eat at Moe%26#39;s (not the Southwestern place)

Talk to the locals, they will give the info on the best places.

Rule- Do not visit any chains, whether restaurants or shops. I would

suggest go where you can only go in Charleston.

Do you mean Moe%26#39;s Crosstown Tavern on Rutledge Street?

Great suggestions for fun in Charleston.
