transport issues

Hi there

need some help, am coming to NY in November and need to sort out travel arrangments from NY to Aiken South Carolina, I will unfortunetly be unable to hire a car, so need to find some other way to get there, any suggestions on train or coaches services? and has anyone done this journey to give me an idea on lenght of it?

According to a train website I looked at Aiken is not connected to one, so would have to use a local coach service from a near by city, which city would be best to come into to connect to Aiken?

thank you in advance.

the closest tranportation hub is in augusta ga about 30 minutes away. you can arrange a shutte or cab from there easily. the closest airport would be columbia, not more than a hour away. i %26#39;m sure there is tranport available there to aiken as well. good luck!

thank you.

thank you.

Actually, the closest airport is in Augusta, GA. You can get there via connections in Atlanta , GA (if you fly Delta or one of their partners) or Charlotte, NC (of you fly US Airways or one of their partners).

It is an approximately 22 mile drive from the Augusta airport to Aiken . There are usually many cabs available at the Augusta Airport, but I have no idea how much they would charge to take you to Aiken.

There is no train service to Aiken. Columbia, SC is about 60 miles from Aiken, so you would need to catch a bus (Southern Stages is a part of Greyhound Bus Corp and has a stop in Aiken.) if you choose to fly into Columbia. You would also have to catch a cab from the Columbia airport to get to downtown Columbia to get to the bus station.

I personally would probably fly into Augusta %26amp; catch a cab from there. It is generally a little more expensive to fly into Augusta rather than Columbia but I think it would be much less of a hassle than trying to get from Columbia to Aiken without a car or a friend to pick me up at the airport.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Aiken. We have lived here for almost 20 years and really enjoy our small Southern city.

I believe that there is an Amtrack station in nearby Denmark, SC, but please check to be sure.
