Leaving for NMB this Friday...Help!

We are staying at Crescent Shores. We will be there from Sat Oct. 14 - Sat. Oct. 21. A few questions...

1. What is the weather going to be like? Yes, I have looked at weather.com but I would rather hear it from a local.

2. What kind of shopping is there? I have read online about Colonial Place Mall and Coastal Grand. How are they?

3. We want to plan a day trip to a plantation. Any suggestions?

Any other advice is welcome!

I love the beach this time of year --- granted the last few days havent been pleasent (that ol%26#39; nor %26#39; easter really put a damper on things) but the sun is shining today, temps in the mid 70%26#39;s and fluffy clouds on a Carolina Blue sky....thats October!

I would say for the next week you%26#39;ll see much of the same...I think you have maybe a 40 to 60% chance of rain one of those days, but that sometimes doesnt really mean it will rain....best advice is to check with our local weather guru, Ed Piotrowski (www.wpde.com)

As for shopping, you not only have 2 malls (Coastal Grande is the newest, but Colonial just went thru some major renovation) but two outlet malls (both are Tanger Outlets) one out on Rt 501 and the other located near Colonial Mall on Rt 17 North...then you have Broadway at the Beach (www.broadwayatthebeach.com) as well as Barefoot Landing (www.bflanding.com) these are both shopping, dining and entertainment complexes...alot of fun! THEN you also have some of the smaller shopping venues, like Seaboard commons, or The Island Shops down in the Pawleys Island area...and if you are into antiques...well, that a whole other story!

As for a ';plantation'; trip...I would head on down towards Charleston...a number of places you can stop along the way....you have the Hopswee Plantation about an hour south of MB, and a few other historical sites as you approach Awendaw (plus a REALLY great place to eat there, I think its called the See Wee Restaurant) and right before you get into Charleston you have Boone Hall Plantation....www.boonehallplantation.com

Plus, Charleston is a treat in itself....and do take one of the carriage rides thru the historical district, its amazing the things you can learn on those tours!

Laurie.... Barefoot Landing is about 2 minutes south of Crescent Shores, Colonial Mall is about 3-4 minutes away and Tanger Outlets at Hwy. 17 and Hwy. 22 is just past Colonial Mall on the left. You%26#39;ll love Crescent Shores; its very nice!

My wife always seemed to get her best deals at the 501 outlet stores.

We enjoyed Middleton Plantation more than Boone Hall. But a carriage ride through Charleston beats both.

Check out Brookgreen Gardens just south of MB on Hwy 17. It is a beautiful sculpture garden on the site of an old rice plantation. Very large. It has a restaurant on the premises. You could easily spend an entire day there, especially if you took the carriage ride to the old cemetery.
