I was planning a trip to Charleston in September %26amp; was interested in going out to the Morris Island Lighthouse. I%26#39;ve read several forums where people had chartered boats to take them out there. I know the current is strong there, but what I was wondering is that if I go when it%26#39;s really low tide, can I just walk out or swim to the lighthouse, or is it absolutely necessary to go by boat? Any helpful information would be appreciated!

I see I might be a bit late since you were supposed to come to Charleston in September, but just in case I will respond anyway -
I would NOT walk out. Even if it is shallow I wouldn%26#39;t. The rip currents are bad.
