Breakers...Is this too high?

I called the breakers today about reserving rooms for the end of June. I was quoted 1688.71 for a one bedroom in paradise towers %26amp; 2257.96 for a two bedroom superior. They were both ocean front rooms for my husband and I %26amp; two kids. One of our kids is over 15, so we have to pay for him as an adult. It adds an extra $50 a night. Is this a fair rate?

Thanks!

Can%26#39;t really comment on the Breakers. Never stayed there. Hard to compare rates between different places. Such a wide variety of ammenities available.

We have always rented condos through realtors. Age of kids has never been a factor in the rates. Just number of people in our party.

A lot depends on how many nights you are talking about and what you are expecting to have.

If you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night for a few nights, then yes, it%26#39;s a lot!

I have never stayed there either but...end of June is High (Peak) Season. Rates everywhere will be at their highest..but.... that does seem pretty steep for one and two bedrooms. Rates vary everywhere though.

And and extra $50 for ';adult'; 15 yr old??? I don%26#39;t know....

I think if you look at comparable properties, you will find those rates right in line with what is out there. Of course there are properties that are less $$$ but, they may not have all of the amenities that you are looking for. For example --- Marina Inn (Opening Nov 1) is located on the Intercoastal Waterway (not the ocean) and their rate for a 2 bedroom villa for the last week in June is $3160, the Camelot (be sure to read the reviews to the left) which is the next property south of the Breakers is asking $1732+ for the one bedroom and $2336 for a 2 bedroom condo....I would question management about charging for the 15 year old tho...most places would charge extra if the kids are under 18.

All that said, the Breakers Paradise is a nice property and very centrally located...within walking distance to alot of restaurants and attractions...and just a short car/cab or bus ride to Broadway at the Beach and other attractions.

Enjoy!

Yellowdance...

Was just thinking...did you check www.vrbo.com? I do know that there are maybe 3 condos that are located in the Breakers Paradise Towers....www.vrbo.com

Good Luck!

Ive never heard of charging extra for anyone under 18 I would call back and ask for the maximium people allowed in each room. And what the price is for each room.

We do not stay in June but in September for a unit v (oceanfront delux queen suite)we paid around 1100 for 8 days in years past...this year I paid under a 1000 for Sea Island and it was much nicer.

I would check with Crescent keyes in North Myrtle Beach. We just got back from there and it was really nice! Right on the ocean! You could sit on the balcony and watch the dolphins jump and the schools of fish swim. It was neat. I don%26#39;t know what their prices are in the summer, but we paid like, 570.00 for 4 nights/5 days and the penthouse we rented was on the PH1 level (13th floor, I believe) oceanfront, and it sleeps 10. They have smaller penthouse suites that sleep less people that would probably cost less too and the penthouse we got was immaculately clean and nicely decorated. Made our trip worth the money.

We went thru Elliott Realty.

Good luck!

Try Forest Dunes and price one of their 3-bedroom units. Be sure to specify an A-rated unit. They start on the 12th floor and go up to the 18th with great ceiling to floor windows that offer some of the best views in Myrtle Beach.Balconies are also very large.

It seems a little high to me.
