outside Charleston

My husband and I are flying into Charleston and will not have a car:

1) We are interested in taking a day trip to Savannah, GA and would LOVE to have lu8nch at Paula Deen%26#39;s restaurant ';Lady %26amp; Son%26#39;s';!! Does anyone know of a bus/minivan tour?

2) We would also like to go to Kiwah Island to Beachwater Park and have lunch at The Sanctuary Hotel. Is there a bus/minivan tour? How much would a private taxi cost from the historic district to Kiwah?

3) What about a bus/taxi tour to Isle of Palms or Seabrook Island? We really want to see the beach!!

Thanks in advance to all who post their suggestions/comments!!

There is one tour company that does day trips to Beaufort and Savannah. You will need to contact Taylored Tours of Charleston. The phone # is 843-870-7901. The tour guide if Thom Taylor and he is the owner! I am not sure of the time of the tour but it will include a guided tour of both cities.

~ There is not any public transportation or tour van to take you Kiawah Island. I would imagine a taxi being a pretty hefty bill.

~ There is public transportation to the Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island. You can pick up a route #40 and ride it to the Mt. Pleasant Towne Center. At that time you can pick up what they call a Flex Route. You call and the bus comes and picks you up. You can go to www.ridecarta.com for route info.

Contact www.islandshuttle.com for information about transportation to and from Kiawah Island. I know that they make the trip regularly, but i do not know how much it costs.

You could have lunch at Tha Sanctuary, walk down the beach to Beachwalker Park, and have the shuttle pick you up at Beachwalker for your return to Charleston.

Beachwalker Park has clean restrooms and changing areas, as well as a snack bar. Check the schedule, since the park hours are reduced in autumn.

Here%26#39;s another private transportation co: www.grandtransport.com

You might consider renting a car for the day as it will probably be the cheapest way to get around.

Definitely consider renting a car for the day. Driving around in the lowcountry is easy. Just get a map.

catmomrusty---There is the infamous ';Paula Deen Tour'; given by Cindy. She%26#39;s really alot of fun and a local and it includes lunch at Uncle Bubba%26#39;s which is where most of the ';Paula Sightings'; occurr. I believe its $51 per person and lasts about 3-4 hours.

I love going to Paula%26#39;s.

My suggestion would be to go and put your name on the list; you%26#39;ll probably have an hour wait. I always take that time to walk the 2 blocks to the shops along the river. That way, I can slay two dragons at one time.
