Wedding Night

All right, getting married in Charleston... actually from Charleston but never stayed in a hotel or inn there.. any suggestions for a good wedding night location... some place not too biug (ie not Chas Place) and some place with a good amount of luxury and privacy....

any thoughts on

-Governor%26#39;s house inn

- Planters (peninsula grill is great)_ i have heard some not so nice things

- french quarter

- market pavillion

- wentworth mansion (though 2 blocks from my old apt)

any thoughts, would like a suite, nice bathroom- pool is a plus but it%26#39;ll be one, maybe 2 nights at most before heading to Jamaica.

Wedding Night

I have never personally stayed at any of those, but I would guess Wentworth Mansion or Governor%26#39;s House Inn based on what others say. Also, if you don%26#39;t have to be dowtown, try The Woodlands in Summerville. It%26#39;s amazing.

Wedding Night

Also amazing but not downtown: The Sanctuary Hotel on Kiawah Island.

Governors House Inn gets my vote! The place is beautiful and would be perfect for your wedding night. If you want a suite you can request either the Rutledge Suite, theJefferson Suite or Christopher Suite.

Mu husband and I have been to Charleston on vacation several times. We like to check out the available places to stay while we are there, and have found the French Quarter one of the most romantic and luxurious places in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the amenities are wonderful. We have stayed in four different rooms and really preferred room 313. The room is on the back of the hotel overlooking the slaves market. We had a small balcony with seating, and enjoyed opening the door at nite to listen to the jazz coming from somewhere near. We had a good view of the carriages waiting for their passengers(but you can%26#39;t smell them). A fireplace came in handy in Feb. after taking a nice relaxing soak in the jaccuzzi. Walk out of the side door of the hotel and you have all the restaraunts and meeting places you could want. Then come back to your room to a turned down bed with pralines on your robes that have been laid out for you and soft music on the radio playing, the ice bucket is full and the lights are down low, what else could you want. Breakfast in the room next morning and your ready for life. Look on their web site for other amenities, there are many. Congratulations and good luck.

The only place I have stayed of those is planters inn. My now fiancee and I stayed last summer and it was fantastic. We went on a package deal they offer in the summer months at the last minute as a surprise. Rooms were clean, nicely decorated, staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great, peninsula grill is fantastic, down the street from Kaminski%26#39;s for the best milk shakes, and next to the market. We would definitely stay there again.

Good luck with your wedding,

Charleston is a great location for it.

I have stayed at many B and B%26#39;s downtown and the Governor%26#39;s House inn is by far the best! My sister had her whole wedding party stay at the Inn and it was the most amazing experience. Definetly check it out!
