where to stay in myrtle beach

This is going to be our first vacation to Myrtle Beach. We are looking for a family friendly hotel to stay in while we vacation in Myrtle Beach next year (somewhere around the first part of June). We are a family of 4, kids are ages 9 and 15. We would like something that is close to attractions, oceanfront, and affordable. What are some fun places to go to? Is there any special events around that part of June? We have read some good reviews on Dayton House. Has anyone stayed there and like to share their story with us? What restaurants would you recommend? Nascar Cafe?

Thank you so much for much!

This is a great forum for a 1st timer...you%26#39;ll find so much info here! Dayton House is a decent property...and the location makes it really easy to walk to a number of restaurants, shops and some attractions...its not far at all to Broadway at the Beach (a nice walk or a short bus/car ride) Some restaurants in that general area for you to try would be Bummz Beach Cafe (cute little ocean front place with live music)Papa%26#39;s (just across the street from Bummz), River City (really great burgers and peanuts at the tables!)SoHo (really good sushi!) and Bagel Factory (wonderful bagels, danish, breakfast and lunch option).

You may want to check out the thread at the top of this forum re: places to eat...we have soooo many here! Sun Fun Festival is usually that 1st full week of June (www.sunfunfestival.com) and has alot of events going on then.

Have fun!

Thank you for input, it is helping us out. Is there any other places to stay that you would recommend?

I personally liked to stay in North Myrtle Beach at the avista although it was a short drive to get to the other side i loved the family atmosphere no rowdy teens at all just families with smaller children I would recommend if you%26#39;re staying for a week you should seek a room with a washer/dryer in it It comes in handy with the children

There is so much to do in MB...Broadway at the Beach is a must, there are many different shows in the area (Dixie Stampede is dinner %26amp; show which would be fun for your age children), Nascar Speedpark, Myrtle Waves water park, Family Kingdom Amusement Park, Ripleys Aquarium, Alligator Adventure,deep sea fishing, pirate cruises, dolphin adventures, banana boat rides, parasailing. Definately check out the ';sticky'; titled ';a locals restaurant recom'; at the top of the page for restaurants. The Breakers-Paradise Tower %26amp; the Hampton Inn Oceanfront (which has been rated #1 for a long time) are 2 hotels I would strongly recommend. Dayton House is nice as well. Enjoy your trip and as MBCon said, this is a great forum for first time vacationers to the area.

anggsldr, my family has stayed at Carolina Winds, which is around 76th Ave. N. It is in the northern end of Myrtle Beach..a very nice area. Other hotels in this area are pretty nice as well. And it is very convenient to resturants, shopping, entertainment, etc.

I would suggest going thru the other questions that are on this forum when you have some time. Go back a few pages even.

There are LOTS of great tips here. I%26#39;m sure a lot of your questions about Myrtle Beach will be answered by looking thru this forum.

Oh and the first part of June is during Myrtle Beach%26#39;s ';Senior Week';

This is a time (end of May thru middle of June really) when a LOT of

high school seniors (graduates) will go to MB for a week or so of crazy, loud, wild fun. I think they tend to stay closer to the middle of where the Pavillion area used to be....although this might change a little since it is no longer there. Anyway.....something to consider.

Just spent a ';girls weekend'; at Camelot by the Sea. Found it at patricia.com. 2 bedroom condo was perfect - ocean front, nice and clean with 1 king %26amp; 2 queen - 2 baths, kitchen, family room, convenient locatation, nice amenities, excellent price - fun place. Recommend it highly.
