Dayton House Questions

Will be staying in an oceanfront efficiency for month of November

Which building should I ask to be in - are rooms basically same in every building or are some newer than others

Which building has the indoor pool?

Do they have coffee in AM/during day - which building

What about a PC to check e-mails etc.- which building

How is the exercise room - what is in it and does it have treadmill and TV?? Think it is across the road

Anything else that I should be aware of - I knowthere are a lot of restaurants in walking distance

Dayton House Questions

We stayed in an efficiency ocean front in the North Tower. If I were going to stay a month, I think I would rather be in one of the suites. We had two beds, an easy chair, a table with chairs and a dresser. A large fridge, four burner stove, with oven and a microwave. Plus plenty of pots, dishes, etc. and coffee pot.

A month without a sofa would be uncomfortable. I think the suites are in the South Tower.

Dayton House Questions

Visitor7...

A number of these questions can be answered by a simple phone call or email directly to the hotel, i.e. coffee, pool location, public computer, exercise equipment.

I%26#39;m not real familiar with the interior of this property, but I think that you will enjoy being in the area where they are located. Very easy to walk to a number of places to eat, some shopping and not a far car/cab or bus ride to other places. There is a Starbucks not far from the hotel is you need that mid-day coffee fix (one of my fav cups of coffee for the day!) and a great littel beach front restaurant that has some great live music (and karoke) just a block or so south of the hotel --- Bummz Beach Cafe. Just up 21st Ave N you have a number of restaurants....Papa%26#39;s (a bit Cuban/Carribbean -- good food) is across the street from Bummz, River City (wonderful burgers and REAL fries!), SoHo (I go there for the sushi), Dirty Don%26#39;s (nice people watching deck, oyster roasts), then just around the corner is a WONDERFUL bagel place (breakfast and lunch) The Bagel Factory.

Enjoy!

:)

I did forget to add that if the hotel does not have a ';public'; PC...the Chapin Library is a short walk, and they do allow ';non locals'; access to the internet there....just check in at the desk.

:)

Thanks to both of you for the advice and good variety of restaurant suggestions - any good Italian restaurants in close proximity

Will call hotel and ask for room change to oceanfront suite so that I have a loveseat and ask my questions about amenities

You are more than welcome.....as for Italian..some of my favs not far from Dayton House (but not in walking distance) would be

Villa Romana...7th Ave S and Kings Hwy...wonderful ';homemade'; Italian..Fran and Rinaldo are the owners and they make everyone feel very special there! And John the accordion player is well worth the visit!

Luigi%26#39;s ....just off Kings hwy at 61st Ave N...nice little place, Luigi makes all of his own pastas, breads AND mozzarella! Yum!

Villa Mare....located in Northwoods Shopping Plaza in the Bistro district...just off 79th Ave N and Kings. Good ';home cooked'; meals and a WONDERFUL wait staff!

For just a bit more of a drive north you have Villa Tuscana and Chianti South (I LOVE their wine list there!)

Two places that I have yet to try but have heard of great things are Ciao! (where Luigi%26#39;s used to be just off Kings Hwy about 52nd Ave N) and Palmodoro%26#39;s...near Coastal Grande Mall just off Grisson Parkway and Sea Island Hwy.

Bon appetite!

:)

I stayed at Dayton House in September. We stayed in the All Suites Building. That is the one with the indoor pool %26amp; indoor jacuzzi %26amp; sauna.

There is coffee in the Main building (where you check in) and also 2 pc%26#39;s to check email.

Dayton House is a great place to stay. Not luxurious, by any means, but it%26#39;s clean, well-maintained %26amp; in a central location. I think their prices are very reasonable. We always had plenty of towels, etc. Housekeeping did a good job.

If the price is comparable I would consider a suite for an extended stay.
